Configuring POPmail

POPmail is a freeware e-mail program. Users should be aware that when POPmail is used to fetch e-mail messages, it will save them to a specified location on the user's disc and REMOVE them from the mail server. Users saving mail to floppy discs, zip discs, etc. should be careful with the media because this will become the sole copy of all their e-mail!

  • 1.Open POPmail. Open POPmail by double-clicking on its icon.
  • 2.Select "Username & Server". Click on the "Setup" menu and select "Username & Server.". A window will open.
  • 3.Enter your e-mail account. In the "E-mail Account" box, type in your full e-mail address given you by SkyPoint. It should look like username@skypoint.com.
  • 4.Enter your Password. NOTE: this step is OPTIONAL. It will permanently save your Password so that you will not need to manually type it in every time you connect to the mail server. If you are concerned about the security of your account, or if you, your family, or your organization have more than one SkyPoint account that will be accessed through this computer, you should NOT set this option.

In the "Password" box, type in the Password you were given by SkyPoint. Select the "Save Password" box.

  • 5.Select "OK". Click the "OK" box in the lower right corner of the window.
  • 6.Select "Mail Folder...". Click on the "Setup" menu and select "Mail Folder....". A window will open.
  • 7.Select where you would like your mail stored. Using the list of folders and discs shown in the window, decide where you would like your mail stored when you fetch new messages from now on. When you reach the desired folder, click the "Choose Foldername" button.
  • 8.Test POPmail. Send a message to a friend with an e-mail address, and ask her to send an e-mail back to you. This will ensure that your system is properly configured for future e-mail.
